Florida Finishing Dry Grit Blast Specifications.
WHY GRIT BLAST ???
From our most aggressive abrasive blast profile to a gentle fog blast, Florida Finishing has the experience and the equipment to prepare your surface for the best possible adhesion of coatings.
As we know, the best paint job on the planet won't stick to a poorly prepared surface. As high as 75% of all coating failures can be directly attributed to inadequate surface preparation that directly affects coating adhesion properties.
Selection and implementation of the proper surface preparation ensures coating adhesion to the substrate and extends the service life of the coating system.
About our Dry Blast Equipment
A blast cabinet is essentially a closed loop system that allows the operator to blast the part and recycle the abrasive. It usually consists of four components; the containment (cabinet), the abrasive blasting system, the abrasive recycling system and the dust collection. The operator blasts the parts from the outside of the cabinet by placing his arms in gloves attached to glove holes on the cabinet, viewing the part through a view window, turning the blast on and off using a foot pedal.
- A siphon blast system (suction blast system) uses the compressed air to create vacuum in a chamber (known as the blast gun). The negative pressure pulls abrasive into the blast gun where the compressed air directs the abrasive through a blast nozzle. The abrasive mixture travels through a nozzle that directs the particles toward the surface or work piece. Boron carbide nozzles are more wear resistant and are often used with harder abrasives such as aluminum oxide
About our Blast Media
220 Grit Aluminum Oxide is an engineered abrasive primarily used for cleaning, de burring, finishing, and peening applications. Sharp, hard media prepares surfaces for re coating and leaves an etched or matte finish. Contains no free silicas and leaves no residue.
